About Our Coffee

Antioxidants
When you drink Rockin’ Coffee, you will absorb beneficial antioxidants found naturally in coffee grown at high altitudes. OK, that sounds interesting and all, but what does this really mean? It really means that scientists agree that moderate coffee drinkers who enjoy coffee like Rockin’ had less cardiovascular disease, and premature death. Whoa, Rockin’ is delicious AND good for you? What is more… Rockin’ than that?

Whole Bean
To assure the most excellent flavor, we package whole bean coffee. Why don’t we grind the beans? It’s not because we are slack, it is because the coffee grind is the most vital step in making an exceptional mug of coffee. A few of us at Rockin’ prefer a finer-than-usual grind to ensure what we think carries maximum flavor while others (like the good folks up in the art department) like it ground coarser for their ‘fancy’ French presses (hey, nothing bitter here)! So indeed, who better to decide on your coffee grind than you?

Roasts
It’s all in the roast! A freshly picked coffee bean is actually soft, some-what flavorless, and pale in color. Give beans a roast, and voila, you’ll find happiness in a cup. The more you roast, the stronger the cup. Here’s the Rockin’ guide to our roasting:

  • Light roast delivers a milder coffee taste. Light roast beans are light brown in color and lack an oily sheen. We roast the beans until they begin to pop or crack, right before oils break through the surface. This roast produces a light-bodied cup of coffee that has a higher level of acidity and no obvious roast flavor.
  • Medium roast offers delicately nuanced and rounded flavors. This roast produces a bean that is medium-brown in color with a non-oily surface. The medium roast starts to take on the taste of the roasting process. Sugars inside the beans begin to caramelize and acidity becomes more muted.
  • Dark roast produces a robust, full body coffee. This roast produces beans that are shiny and black. The darker the roast, the less acidity in your cup.
